The Trauma technician course aims to reduce trauma related deaths by training the people dealing with traumatic injuries pre-hospital to recognise and treat life-threatening injuries. It is well recognised that the care a patient receives pre-hospital, not only can decrease the risk of mortality but also improve and promote recovery.
For many years now the BTLS and PHTLS courses have been the only trauma training available for medical and paramedical groups. Whilst both these courses offer excellent trauma training neither take into account the specific needs of certain pre-hospital care specialists. In response to this need, the concept of an intermediate level trauma course consisting of core modules, supplemented with specific additional modules was born.
